Component failures, such as in the transfer case motor, clutches, and bearings, are common. Issues like uneven tire wear can cause excessive front-to-rear rotation differences, forcing the motor and clutches to engage more frequently, leading to accelerated wear and increased heat that degrades the transfer case fluid.

Shifting problems: Difficulty shifting gears, getting stuck in a gear, or delayed engagement when shifting between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive
Noises: Strange grinding, growling, or humming noises
Fluid puddle: A puddle of fluid under the transfer case
